Travis Durgan is an undergraduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Biography

I am an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student at Michigan Technological University (MTU) with a minor in International Spanish. I plan to focus my elective studies on power courses, and I want my future work to be in power, renewable energies, and sustainable development.

I am currently working with the MTU Alternative Energy Enterprise on the EGSolar team testing the effects of Energized Glass on snow removal and production efficiency for solar panels in heavy winter conditions as well as working as a consulting team for local clients interested in integrating solar or wind energy into their business or home. I also hold an Undergraduate Reasearch Assistant position with Dr. Joshua Pearce´s Michigan Tech´s Open Sustainability Technology (MOST) Research Group where I am currently working on an open source mains power meter to develop load data for integrated solar networks.

In addition to my more EE related projects, I am working with the MTU chapter of Engineers Without Borders as team lead for the chapter´s water distribution project in La Esperanza, Panama. The project with La Esperanza has the goal of supplying the community with a reliable potable water source with available taps throughout the community.
