Introduction

The MOST Delta printer is derived from the [Rostock printer] with the following design goals:

  • Simple build process
  • True to RepRap
  • Minimize cost of ownership
  • Maximize rigidity
  • Aesthetically pleasing (or at least neutral)
  • Excellent print performance

The design utilizes plywood linking boards cut to a length to yield a desired printer radius when attached to the printed apexes. This simplifies assembly while helping to assure that printer dimensions are fixed and known.

As many printed parts are used in the design as possible, including printed pulleys.

Cost is minimized in a number of ways; a Melzi print controller is used; the printer as shown prints only PLA and has no heated bed, so an inexpensive 12V 5A PSU can be used; the length of the guide rods is such that a complete set can be cut from just two 6 foot lengths of 8mm drill rod (the unfortunate length provided by American suppliers).
