All You Need to Know About Manifold Valve
In a lot of fluid based industrial systems, an operation without the valves seems like an impossible thing. There are many different kinds of valves which have different configurations. Among the most popular and most useful ones are pneumatic check valves, ball valves, needle valves, toggle valves, etc.
A lot of times, a system has to incorporate two or more kinds of valves. This is when multiple requirements need to be accomplished. In such a case, a single valve will not be able to fulfill the requirement. This is where a manifold valve helps.
WHAT IS A MANIFOLD VALVE?
As mentioned earlier, when two or more valves need to be combined to accomplish an operation, it becomes a manifold valve. The valve chamber of the manifold valve is common, and all other isolate valves are joined into a single body configuration. With every valve that is connected, there is also a separate pipe to let the passage of the fluid. Commonly used manifolds are a ball, bleed, vent and needle valves.
WHY CHOOSE MANIFOLD VALVES? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? There is a vast range of applications of manifold valves. They can be used in simple mobile machinery, as well as something as complex as heavy industrial equipment. The biggest advantage that a manifold valve has is its efficiency. When installed in the fluid regulation system, it not only provides efficiency but also leads to a prominent decrease in the overall energy expenditure.
Other than the reduced energy costs, there are a lot of other reasons why you should choose manifold valves. The number one reason why you should choose a manifold valve is that it enhances the efficiency of a system. This is done by manifold valves as they have a smaller path of flow, which greatly reduces the overall chances of pressure and heat fluctuations.
The manifold valves are designed with compactness as well as precision. Not only that, the overall layout features less number of hoses and connections. This means that you can save money on installation costs, which is another reason why many people choose manifold valves. Similarly, compactness, which is also evident in the cartridge sizes, is a convenient feature as it lets the valve fit in small spaces easily.
Since a manifold valve has lesser number of hoses and connections, the chances of oil leakage go down as well. This also means that the chances of repair of wear, fatigue, and looseness of joints decrease too, again saving up on troubleshooting costs.
TYPES OF MANIFOLD VALVES In simplest terms, there are three basic types of manifold valves.
1. Two way manifold valves:
The applications for this kind of manifold valve includes general plant service, instrumentation devices used for standard pressure and differential pressure, equalization of pressure, venting, and block and bleed applications, etc.
2. Three-way manifold valves:
They are mostly used to differential pressure and standard pressure instrumentations.
3. Five-way manifold valves:
These again are used in standard and differential pressure instrumentations.
