Template:Cat header

[edit] Usage
Just as {{topic header}} is used on topic pages (and will we have {{portal header}} on portals?), this navigation template is used on key category pages. Usually the name will be the same for each page type, but not always.
Image: If you can find a suitable image on Appropedia to display, use it - otherwise leave the image parameter empty (it'll be a bit untidy, but it can be fixed later).
{{cat header| default.png | topic name | Intro text }}
- Change default.png to your preferred free image from Appropedia, if there is one.
- Change "topic name" to the topic page you want to link to. Usually this will be the same as the page you're linking from.
- Intro text might be the first line or two of the topic page.
E.g. on the zero waste page, we can use:
{{cat header|Erssons_g_plants.jpg|Permaculture|Permaculture is a form of whole systems design based on the sustainability of natural systems, seeking to reproduce that sustainability in our living environment.}}
which displays as:
|
If you don't have a suitable image on Appropedia yet, leave the first parameter as default.png, e.g.:
{{cat header| default.png | Taking action | The problems and suffering in the world today, and more drastic challenges that might be facing us in future demand that we take action. }}
which displays as:
|
If you have have an open licensed image you'd like to share and use here, upload at Special:Upload and in the license specify the image, the license, and the source (i.e. if you took it yourself, or which website it came from.
[edit] Header for topic page
Add the {{topic header}} for the corresponding topic page, in the form:
{{topic header| default.png | categoryname }}

- This is a first draft - please feel free to play with it and improve it! --Chriswaterguy 07:18, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Note: I was going to use [[:Category:{{{PAGENAME}}}|'''{{{PAGENAME}}} category''']] but I thought there might be times when the category name mightn't be the same as the key page. --Chriswaterguy 07:18, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
