"Fuller" wind turbine ?[edit source]

Not sure whether this will be simpler to build, but at first impression, it might: http://www.gizmag.com/bladeless-wind-turbines/14977/ include to article if useful technology KVDP 09:42, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Tower construction[edit source]

It appears that tower constructions also vary, ie for ground sailor bladed rotor WECS, towers included ie:

  • Standerd mill tower (rectangular design, saddle roof)
  • Wip mil tower (rectangular design with conical base)
  • tower mill tower (cylindrical design, dome roof)
  • conical mill tower (conical design, rectangular roof with curved back)

In addition, the bladed rotor also came in different versions, some had their blades at an angle, and some had variable blades (using 2 axles with a "windbord" and a fixed blade). Finally, the main rotor was sometimes also tilted at 6-11%; however the latter was only done to prevent the rotor from sliding off the axle (appearantly, they were not fixed) rather than to improve efficiency (might even reduce effiency) See http://web.archive.org/web/20130507163501/http://www.windmillevolution.nl
