West Malling Neighbourhood Plan, 4 questions[edit source]

Following West Malling Parish Council's decision to produce a Neighbourhood Plan, and the formal approval process, the Parish Council is asking residents 4 questions to help start the process. You can see a summary of answers from West Malling residents who attended the event on 3rd July, but also still give your answers via the PC website. Below is a sample response:

Pavement cafes, trees along the High Street, public art, public transport, wider & more spacious cycling & walking routes for all users

Any Ideas for Projects and Activities In West Malling?

Community facilities close to High Street/town centre, including maker space, storage space for recyclerie/repair cafe, community libraries of all kinds promoting reuse & sharing: book, toy & tools, library of things, community arts centre, green centre, community allotment, sensory garden, Bowls Green/club, Men in Sheds shed, exercise equipment for adults/seniors in Manor Park, real time bus times display at bus shelter, free WiFi across whole town centre, sustainable urban drainage systems, highly visible cycle parking in at least 2 High Street locations

Community carbon reduction plan, community energy schemes, Map of WM Community Resources, incl. green resources, habitat map to highlight 'biodiversity assets', local foodshed map & directory, Timebank/local currency (The Malling Pound?), local loyalty scheme for independent shops & services, reconomy group to learn how our area's economy works & how it might be made more resilient, with sufficient & diverse opportunities for young people, including local entrepreneur forums; Community land trust, nonprofit that develops & stewards affordable housing, community gardens, civic buildings, commercial spaces & other community assets on behalf of the community, safeguarding Manor Park and Malling Woods if not already safeguarded, investigate becoming a Walkers are welcome town, encourage more car sharing, food growing network
