2nd law of thermodynamics[edit source]

2nd law irony

The final section of this article refers to the second law of thermodynamicsW and includes this picture and caption (right).

Now, it's clearly a dumb claim (though it might be smart advertising, truth and ethics aside), but technically and pedantically, it isn't a violation of any scientific laws, AFAICT. Accounting laws, definitely: using imported oil to run SUVs to power a state with inadequate generation capacity (by connecting the alternators to the grid and letting the engines run?) would be ridiculous, and ridiculously expensive. But I think the target market isn't pedantic/rigorous enough to think about what the ad would mean if taken literally. --Chriswaterguy 06:15, 31 May 2011 (PDT)
