Help talk:Porting PDF files to MediaWiki
From Appropedia
searching "pdf to html" on google seems to turn up some nice results - I can't try any of the applications because I can't install software on this computer, but some of it looks quite promising.
Additionally, Google seems to have the whole pdf to html thing quite automated, so you might look into how they did it. Of course they probably didn't tell anyone exactly how they did it, but it's worth a try. --David.reber 22:33, 28 January 2008 (PST)
- Thanks - I did some searching, and ahve updated the page. There's one solution (Acrobat) that's working, and some promising leads on free stuff there now. Hoping some someone reasonably knowledgeable about computers, with Windows on their machine, (who can avoid malware) wants to try the Windows programs.
- Re Google - they do text with very little formatting, probably a matter of maximizing speed and minimizing server load - hopefully our tools will give nicer looking output. --Chriswaterguy · talk 18:33, 3 February 2008 (PST)
