The AT dishwasher

This articles details the construction of the AT dishwasher. On the drawing, note that the bottom 20 cm are the feet of the dishwasher, and the sides are all open. This allows air to be drawn in from 4 sides. The red funnels are air-inlets. The bottom funnels stands slighly above the sloped bottom/basin to avoid that water can enter. The valve is there for the same reason, aswell as to keep heated air inside the dishwasher (once drying has started by means of the heating element). Note that besides the sump (=a half-sphere), the water is first lead to this sump via the sloped bottom/basin (=everything outside the grey circle). The sump is also given an end drain with valve (not shown) to discard the filthy water. Sump and clean water tank are both connected to the spray arms pipe; the system can hereby reuse the water several times before discarding it. Note that the 80 cm height comes from:

  • 5 cm spray arm
  • 30 cm dishes
  • 5 cm spray arm
  • 5 cm spray arm
  • 30 cm dishes
  • 5 cm spray arm

Each basket is designed to carry eating plates + mugs. The top basket also holds the crockery container. Only the bottom basket is also fitted with a third handle (in the centre) to move the basket up, after this the 2 handles on the hooks (marked in green) can be used.

Finally note that the flexible pipes of the spray arms are mounted on a hinged support. This allows to rotate the spray arms when the baskets are taken out the dishwasher (via the top lid).
