AT crane
From Appropedia
The AT crane is a concept for a appropriate technology crane.
Applications:
- loading/unloading (ie at ports)
- winching of people (see AT_CAD_Team/Settlement_design (variation B, note: design on drawing is better, but less modular)

[edit] Design
The design would be very similar to the Pentaspastos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pentaspastos_scheme.svg ). However, it should be rotatable, thus the feet of the crane would come unto a rotatable platform. The cables can also mount to this platform. Also besides manual winching, an engine should be mountable, this can be done by adding a sprocket to the winch, hence allowing the connecting of a chain. Also, mounting brackets should be foreseen on the platform.
