As an MTU environmental engineering grad student, having the ability to print equipment for my research is key. I am looking forward to printing the body of a drone that I will use for observing ice and snow pack.
Understanding the market
Drones exist in the market but they are very costly. By building my own, I can fly mine as a hobbyist and would not have to have a pilot's license or pay someone with a license to make these flights. These flights will be under 100 feet and a light weight drone with a small camera is what is planned.
The ultimate goal is to better measure and model snow pack to help with modeling spring floods so as to not cause problems with the power grid.
You may describe your costs here.
